Description
There are many different style Obi and which style is worn is determined by the occasion. Wider, brocade weave Obi made of silk and metallic threads would have been reserved for formal occasions. Our collection is made up of these traditionally long and wide design obi.
The collection spans from circa 1900 to the 1960's. The wearer would have been an unmarried woman showing the Obi tied in back, the full length drawn behind her. Our favorite modern uses are as table runners and wall art. On close examination, Obi are exceptional pieces of weaving.
